Addressing Two Questions About Troublesome Dental Issues

Oscar Allen

Dental health is one part of life that most people seldom think about until a problem arises, and as a result, most people are not very informed about how dentists can correct many of these issues. The lack of knowledge can cause people to avoid seeking the treatment that they need to maintain their smile, and if you are one of these individuals, learning the following two questions may help you to make better decisions about maintaining your smile.

How Can Pus On The Gums Be Treated?

When it comes to dental health, it is not uncommon for individuals to pay most of their attention to their teeth. However, it is important to remember that maintaining your gum health is also essential for keeping your teeth safe and healthy. If you make the mistake of seriously neglecting your gum health, it is possible for pus to develop on the surface of the gums and between your teeth. This unpleasant problem can lead to major complications for your long-term dental health.

If this problem arises, it is critical for you to seek the care of your dentist as soon as possible. These professionals can provide you with a medicated mouthwash to clear the condition, and if this is not sufficient, they can perform surgery to remove the infected tissue. This may sound like an extreme treatment option, but severely diseased gums can make your teeth more likely to require extractions.

What Can Be Done For Misshapen Teeth?

Whether it is just the natural shape of your teeth or due to an injury, it is possible for individuals to have teeth that are not the correct shape. This can cause major cosmetic problems for the patient, and it can also lead to functional problems with tasks like speaking and chewing. Sadly, there are many patients with this condition that assume there is nothing that the dentist can do to correct this problem, but there are actually a host of treatment options available.

For example, it may be possible for your dentist to apply a thin coating of porcelain to the exterior of the teeth to give them a more conventional shape. If you are unfortunate enough to have teeth that are too severely misshapen for this to be a viable treatment, you may need to have a crown attached to the top of the tooth and your family dentist may using bonding to slowly build up the exterior of the tooth until it is the correct shape.

Ensuring that you have a beautiful smile can be a highly difficult task if you are unfortunate enough to develop or suffer from a host of dental problems. By understanding the importance of seeking treatment for gums that have developed pus and the steps to restore misshapen teeth, you can more effectively protect and improve your smile's beauty.

About Me
A New Smile Was the Best Investment of My Life

I grew up in a home with parents who did not insist on good dental hygiene. By the time I was old enough to know better, some damage had already been done. I had many cavities, crooked teeth, and some discoloration on my teeth. I knew it would not be easy to take my smile from where it was to where it is today, but I was determined to finally have nice teeth. I visited a dentist who was very nice and never judged me. We made a dental plan together. Spreading the procedures out over time made it much easier to afford them. I now have almost perfect teeth after all that hard work! I created this blog to help others who have dental problems that stem from bad childhood habits know there is hope! It is never too late to start seeing the dentist!
