Ready To Quit Drinking Alcohol But Still Worried About Your Health? Know Where To Turn For Help

Oscar Allen

Have you been battling an alcohol problem and now you want to cut back on drinking, and make sure that your body is as healthy as it can be? If so, it's time to see some medical professionals you may have been neglecting for the past years, and it's time to see what state your overall health is in. You need to see professionals that can help you with both your physical and mental health. Look into scheduling appointments with the following.

Addiction Therapist

Admitting you have a problem can be very difficult, and an addiction therapist can help you overcome the battle that you have to go through to quit drinking. They won't just help with your current alcohol addiction, but they'll help you with the other things that may be bothering you as a result of your addiction, like ruined relationships or lost time with family members.

Physician

You can't always tell what the alcohol has done to your heart, liver, and other internal functions. Get to a physician to discuss how long you've been drinking, what you've been drinking, and how you've been feeling. The doctor will want to do a variety of tests like bloodwork and maybe other screenings to see if you could have permanent damage because of the addiction, or to see if you have heart risks that need to be addressed. If you haven't been in for a physical in years, you may need health-related screenings like a mammogram or colonoscopy, based on gender and family risks.

Family Dentist

Unfortunately, being an alcoholic can lead to an increased risk of oral cancers, and you want to get a screening to make sure there are no lesions in the mouth or down the throat. Alcohol can also deteriorate the enamel on the teeth and cause discoloration or staining. The dentist can do a full examination with x-rays to rate your overall oral health, and to see if there are any concerns or work that needs done.

If you don't feel like you need to go to an addiction treatment center, and that you can stop drinking on your own, make sure that you physical health can take the withdrawals, and get on track with the right medical professionals so you can live a longer healthier life. You don't have to live in fear wondering what the alcohol has damaged over time, and instead you can get on the right path for a health life. About Me
A New Smile Was the Best Investment of My Life

I grew up in a home with parents who did not insist on good dental hygiene. By the time I was old enough to know better, some damage had already been done. I had many cavities, crooked teeth, and some discoloration on my teeth. I knew it would not be easy to take my smile from where it was to where it is today, but I was determined to finally have nice teeth. I visited a dentist who was very nice and never judged me. We made a dental plan together. Spreading the procedures out over time made it much easier to afford them. I now have almost perfect teeth after all that hard work! I created this blog to help others who have dental problems that stem from bad childhood habits know there is hope! It is never too late to start seeing the dentist!
