Two Tips To Help You Get Emergency Dental Care When You Don't Have Insurance

Oscar Allen

A toothache can throw a serious monkey wrench in your daily routine.  It's hard to talk, and you may find yourself holding the side of your face because of the throbbing pain.  If you have insurance, you can go a clinic and have the tooth examined without worrying about the cost.  However, if you don't have dental coverage, you may avoid going to see a professional because you simply don't have the money.  Instead of spending days in pain, use this information to learn more about how to get emergency dental help that won't break the bank.

Go To A School Of Dentistry

The first place you should look when you need affordable dental care is a school of dentistry.  These facilities are full of students who are learning their trade, and they need patients to make their theoretical knowledge practical.

By visiting a dental school, you can have your teeth and gums examined for a relatively low price.  If you strike during the right time of the semester, you may even go at a time when the instructor is doing an exposition and needs a volunteer.  If you agree to have the work done in the presence of the students, you may be able to score a free dental job.

Keep in mind that all work is done under the watchful eye of a licensed dental instructor.  This helps to ensure that the job is done correctly, and that the instructor can step in to help if necessary.

Seek Out Pro Bono Dentists

There are a number of pro bono dentists across the country that are willing to take on certain cases without charging a fee.  Because these dentists typically don't spend much money in advertising, you may not know where to find them.  That's where a little footwork comes in.

Call around to different dental clinics in your area and ask if the dentists there are willing to take on pro bono patients.  Be willing to explain your situation, and let them know that you are unable to pay at the time.  You may be pleasantly surprised to find a dentist who invites you to come in and have your dental issue taken care of.

Don't let your limited funds keep you from getting the oral care that you need.  If you have a dental emergency, use these tips right away so you can get professional assistance that fits into your budget.

About Me
A New Smile Was the Best Investment of My Life

I grew up in a home with parents who did not insist on good dental hygiene. By the time I was old enough to know better, some damage had already been done. I had many cavities, crooked teeth, and some discoloration on my teeth. I knew it would not be easy to take my smile from where it was to where it is today, but I was determined to finally have nice teeth. I visited a dentist who was very nice and never judged me. We made a dental plan together. Spreading the procedures out over time made it much easier to afford them. I now have almost perfect teeth after all that hard work! I created this blog to help others who have dental problems that stem from bad childhood habits know there is hope! It is never too late to start seeing the dentist!
